Rod Bain

Bass Instructor

Rod Bain caught the pipe band bug in the early ‘80’s, and started his band journey in 2000 with the Pipes & Drums of the Delaware Valley (G5), then moved west to the Misty Isle Pipe Band (G4->G3), where he transitioned to bass in 2002, then to the Kevin R. Blandford Memorial Pipe Band (G3), then relocated to Arizona and found the Mesa Caledonian Pipe Band (G3 & G4); in 2015 he had the chance to try G2 (and being a traveling player) with the Prince Charles Pipe Band.  He is currently playing with the Phoenix Pipe Band (G3) on bass, and has also returned to his snare roots, doing double duty as their G5 band’s Drum Sgt.  He has been fortunate to be able to play around the world, from the US to Canada, Scotland, and France.  He also teaches bass drummers in the Phoenix area, and takes special pride in his role as bass drumming instructor for the Arizona Fire Service Pipe Band.
